MARIETTA—Today, Rep. Tom Jones (R-Elizabethtown) and the House Republican Policy Committee, led by Chairman Josh Kail (R-Beaver/Washington), convened the third in a series of hearings to discuss ways to foster economic growth in Pennsylvania through business-related tax reform.

The hearing, titled “Job-Creating Tax Reform,” featured testimony from various experts in the field. Neal Lesher, director of government affairs at the PA Chamber of Business and Industry; Philip Fullerton, president and owner of John E. Fullerton Inc.; and Eric Wenger, managing partner at RKL, shared their insights on the matter.

Jones, a business owner himself, expressed his frustration with the current state of affairs, stating, "As a business owner, I am very familiar with burdensome bureaucracy and the ways our government gets in the way."

Kail emphasized the importance of tax reform for job creation, stating, "Without tax reform, we cannot expect to create the number of family-sustaining jobs needed to empower our economy."

Wenger, in his testimony, expressed optimism about the potential impact of the proposed tax reforms, saying, "I am confident that if each of these suggested tax reforms were enacted, Pennsylvania could dispel its reputation as being unfriendly for business."

The discussions in the hearing highlighted the pressing need for changes to the Corporate Net Income Tax (CNIT) and net operating loss (NOL) deduction, as well as reforms for S-Corporations vs. C-Corporations.

In conclusion, the commitment of House Republicans to reforming taxes to create a more business-friendly environment in Pennsylvania was reiterated. The full hearing and others in the series can be accessed for further insights on the topic.
